If not feasible, meals may be served in alternate areas (e.g., gymnasium, outside, classrooms) or in staggered meal periods to ensure social distancing. In the event meals will be eaten in the classroom, classes will go through the cafeteria line one at a time and return to the classroom.

When students eat in classrooms all non-food service staff will be trained on any meal service-related activities they will be responsible for. Teachers will be trained on recognizing food allergies, including symptoms of allergic reactions to food.

Students must be 6 feet apart or be separated by a barrier while consuming meals. All Saints Catholic Academy will provide physical distancing guides in food service areas such as tape on floors, stanchions, signage, increase table spacing, and provide a physical barrier between tables to ensure students are 6 feet apart when consuming meals.

Janitorial and lunch staff will be trained to on properly cleaning and disinfecting tables, chairs, and other frequently touched hard surfaces between groups of students. Scheduling of lunch times will allow for proper sanitation hold time, ensuring BETCO products have been administered according to manufacturer’s instructions.

Cashiers and servers will place meals on a counter for quick pick up and place pre-portioned condiments on each tray.

Families are strongly encouraged to add funds to their child’s lunch account electronically. Students will not be allowed to handle money during lunch. Lunch funds (cash or check) sent to school with your child will be directed to the school office. The funds will be collected, labeled and given to the food service coordinator.

The use of share tables, salad bars and other self-service buffets for food and condiments is prohibited.
