All Saints Catholic Academy Students Named

 2017 National Book Challenge Winners

Local Albany students awarded for publishing their own book

Albany, N.Y., June 14, 2017 – Local educator, Julie Reilly, and the 1st grade class at All Saints Catholic Academy has been announced as one of Studentreasures Publishing National Book Challenge  winners for the 2016-2017 school year. Each of the 13, 1st-grade authors were recognized for their contributions to their book, Journey Through Space, that was published earlier this year through one of Studentreasures’ free publishing programs.

Miss Reilly’s class came up with the idea for Journey Through Space after researching interesting topics for their alphabet book. The 1stgrade authors put in their best effort, writing, and illustrating for their space themes ranging from astronauts to quick rockets before they sent it off to be published.

“The students were so engaged in this authentic writing experience. Watching them have their first look at the published books was priceless. We are all so proud of the finished product. The award is icing on the cake,” said Miss Reilly.

As winners of the National Book Challenge, Mrs. Reilly’s classbook was selected from entries across the country and was awarded based on the originality, creative storyline, and illustrations of their book. This nationwide contest was open to more than 800,000 books that were submitted to Studentreasures for publishing this school year.
